Steven Gerrard Returns Ahead of Liverpool v Man United.

October 14, 2016

Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, is back at Melwood ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United – not to lead the reds out against their arch rivals though, just to receive treatment on a hamstring injury.

The former Reds captain has returned to Merseyside after being ruled out of LA Galaxy’s clash with Houston Dynamo this weekend.

The 36-year-old was spotted outside Liverpool’s training ground on Thursday, with coach Bruce Arena confirming he was back in the city as part of his rehabilitation of a hamstring problem that has affected his final season in Major League Soccer.

“Steven had a re-occurrence of his hamstring injury. He’s obviously out for a bit,” Arena told Spectrum SportsNet.

“He could do at home what he could do here as well. It was OK for him to depart for a week or two.”

Gerrard has 21 caps for Galaxy this season, and his side have already qualified for the play-off stage of the MLS Cup.

The English midfielder’s deal with the club runs out at the end of the current US season, and he just recently admitted he was still contemplating his next destination….

“I’m wondering whether I should play on for a little bit longer or whether I should call it a day,” he told Radio City Talk. “I haven’t 100 per cent decided on that yet.

“I still enjoy playing. I still love coming into training, I still love competing, so if I can carry on and there are opportunities to stay here, or go somewhere else for another six months or 12 months, then I’ll consider it.

“I’m going to be a long-time retired and so I still want to enjoy things while I’m still feeling good.”
